The Green Incentive, France & Luxembourg
Launched three years ago, the “Green Incentive” is a six-month annual sustainability challenge across Hays offices in France and Luxembourg. The initiative encourages employees to reduce environmental impact through creative, team-based actions, with offices competing to be named the “greenest office of the year.” Participants earn points for eco-friendly activities—two points for hosting upcycling workshops, four for organizing charity collections, and four for street waste clean-ups. The program blends fun, creativity, and competition, aligning with Hays’ dynamic culture.

Since its inception, 18 offices and over 600 employees have participated. Together, they’ve hosted more than 120 upcycling workshops, collected over 8,000 items for charities, and removed approximately 1.5 tonnes of waste from local areas. These efforts have significantly raised environmental awareness and the power of individual action. Local ambassadors and office managers play a key role in motivating teams, with success often depending on their leadership and engagement. The initiative has strengthened team cohesion, boosted morale, and created a sense of shared purpose.
Colleagues share their efforts on social media, enhancing personal and corporate visibility. The Green Incentive has become a cornerstone of Hays’ broader climate strategy, making sustainability accessible and engaging for all. By turning environmental responsibility into a collective, enjoyable experience, we have empowered our people and reinforced the commitment to minimise environmental impacts.
