Hays raises over £50,000 for national homelessness charity

17 February 2020

UK

Hays, the leading recruiting expert, has raised over £50,000 for the national homeless charity End Youth Homelessness through a series of fundraising events over the last six months.

Fundraising events include a regional football tournament in the South East raising over £800, a raffle in New Malden which raised over £5,000 and sleep out events across the country which raised an impressive total of £28,000 combined.

Hays aims to raise £100,000 for End Youth Homelessness, which will help over 80 young people get into employment, education and training through the End Youth Homelessness Employability fund.

The fund will provide homeless young people with individually-tailored support to work towards their career goals, whatever their previous education or work experience.

So far, the amount raised will help nearly 50 homeless young people get into education, employment or training. End Youth Homelessness has been Hays’ charity partner since July 2019.

Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Hays UK and Ireland, said: “We’re extremely proud to have raised such a significant amount for End Youth Homelessness in the first six months of our partnership. Our staff across the UK have been creative with their fundraising efforts, which are directly helping towards providing homeless young people with education and employment opportunities.”

Nick Connolly, Managing Director of End Youth Homelessness, said: “A huge thank you to all the Hays colleagues who have supported End Youth Homelessness to date. The money raised will have an enormous impact on the lives of homeless young people across the UK, providing them with dedicated help to build the skills, confidence and high aspirations needed to get into work. By helping young people to gain an education and a job, we can equip them with the tools they need to escape homelessness for good.”
