Social dialogue in organisational change, Poland

Traditionally, Hays’ operating countries have had local IT teams responsible for the support of local applications. As part of the Technology Transformation programme, Hays entered a global partnership with Cognizant, for the provision of outsourced IT support.

Cognizant were chosen as a global leader in technology services, with expertise including digital transformation, AI and service management.

Engagement commenced with 52 technology leaders from various part of the business being selected to input into the design of the new technology operating model. The change impacted IT colleagues, as roles transitioned from Hays to Cognizant, as the new employer. Recognising sensitivities, Group Technology adopted a transparent people-led approach, with professional change management and HR support, focusing on communication and dialogue across the in-country deployment.

Social dialogue in organisational change

In Poland, this impact a team of IT colleagues in various roles. Communication and dialogue for the in-country deployment included town hall meetings, employee packs, newsletters, fact sheets, opportunities to feed back anonymously as well as individual consultations. People were supported with a clear process across consultation, the people and service transition, on-boarding with Cognizant and finally integration and knowledge sharing.

The new operating model was launched during the summer, led by Hays across the EMEA region and introduced by Tim Fulton, Chief Technology Officer. Virtual sessions were all held on the same day to communicate the changes. Through open, transparent and two-way dialogue with colleagues, the uncertainty created by changes of this nature was sought to be mitigated.

With infrastructure and services maintained and the continuity of careers for those involved, the transition has been deemed a success.
