Digital transformation in Malaysia will create a large number of new roles as employers focus on integrating digital business into their existing operations, according to recruiting experts Hays.
This is one key finding from the latest Hays Quarterly Report for the April to June quarter, which identifies key trends in the job market.
Tom Osborne, Regional Director of Hays in Malaysia, says: “As an increasing number of companies encompass an online element, talent with experience in managing e-commerce, mobile and online projects are in high demand.”
To ensure a successful combination of traditional and online business, companies are willing to increase budgets to strengthen their digital teams, with new roles such as digital managers, technical business analysts, and developers created. Demand for qualified professionals in this area will continue to grow, triggering a new wave of hiring activity and heated competition for talent.
Financial services companies are also increasing investment in technologies to enhance their business efficiency, according to Tom.
“The Central Bank’s new regulations to encourage financial institutions’ digitalised efforts resulted in a huge demand for project managers who are able to manage digital transformation of financial services. It’s certain that candidates with skills in IT security, mobile and web development and application management will be highly sought after. Companies are also offering contract assignments to skilled professionals to help complete certain projects.”
