On Tuesday 13 October staff from Hays in Preston, the leading recruiting expert, raised over £1,000 for charity Together for Short Lives and St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston by organising a quiz attended by local business people.
The fundraising event was held as part of Hays’ UK wide charity partnership with Together for Short Lives, the leading charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, and also raised funds for adult hospice St Catherine’s.
Pamela Isles, Managing Consultant, and Hayley Parker, Senior Administrator at Hays, organised the charity quiz held at Preston North End Football Club with sixteen teams from local organisations taking part. The quiz champion from the night was financial services company Chesnara, and each organisation contributed a prize towards the raffle at the end of the evening.
Pamela Isles, Managing Consultant at Hays in Preston, said: “I was very proud to organise this event for Together for Short Lives and also to support St Catherine’s Hospice. The event had a great turnout and raised £1,100 thanks to all the local organisations that took part and contributed to our raffle prizes. Our aim is to fund 6,000 hours of care by raising £120,000 as part of our national charity partnership with Together for Short Lives and I am thrilled to play a part towards achieving this target.”
Nick Appleby, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Together for Short Lives, said: “We are delighted with the commitment that the team from Hays have already shown to the charity. Their support will help us raise much-needed funds for thousands of seriously ill children and their families who rely on the vital care provided by local children’s hospice services across the country."
Together for Short Lives helps to ensure that every child and young person unlikely to reach adulthood, and their family get the best possible care and support whenever and wherever they need it by raising money for the 53 children’s hospice services across the UK. The charity was chosen by staff at Hays, the leading global specialist recruitment group, as its charity partner for 2015 to 2017.
